The current Dean of Science is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics. Before becoming dean of faculty in January 2015, Dr. Eneya was deputy head, later head of Mathematical Sciences Department, then deputy dean of faculty.
He received his PhD (2010) from the Humboldt University of Berlin.
Dr. Eneya has been an active researcher in optimisation, mathematical modelling, and strengthening mathematics teaching and learning through problem solving. He has worked on developing efficient optimization methods for minimizing energy functionals; infectious diseases modelling; and he is currently working on transport optimization and logistics in value chain analysis, and optimization of transport networks in cities. He is also in a team of five, on a collaborative project “Improving Quality and Capacity of Mathematics Teacher Education in Malawi” between the University of Malawi and University of Stavanger in Norway, funded by the NORAD (2014 - 2018).
Dr. Eneya also served as president of the Southern Africa Mathematical Sciences Association (SAMSA) from 2012 - 2014.
He is also a visiting lecturer at AIMS-Tanzania.
